Want More Confidence? Stop Chasing It.

If you’ve been trying to “fake it till you make it”— It’s not working. And it won’t because confidence isn’t about looking confident. It’s about feeling safe in your body. You don’t need to become someone new to feel confident. You just need to feel safe. That’s it! That’s the secret. 🫂

Before we jump to safety, let's say it plain and simple: We are all inherently confident human beings because we all have contextual confidence.

What Is Contextual Confidence?

Contextual confidence is the kind of confidence that shows up in environments we feel safe:

When you're laughing with close friends, dancing alone in your room or speaking about something that excites you. In those moments, you’re not faking confidence. You're feeling safe.

So Ask Yourself, What Does Your Body Do When You Feel Safe?

  • Were your shoulders relaxed?

  • Was your chest open?

  • Neck elevated?

  • Eye contact maintained?

  • Breath steady?

  • Were you taking up space?

If you hit 3 of those things, then your body already knows how to be confident.

Confidence isn’t just a mindset ------- It’s a physical state of being.

When we feel insecure or underconfident, the first thing that shifts isn’t our mindset—it’s our body. Before the overthinking kicks in, the spiral of “I’m not good enough” takes over—our shoulders tense, our breath shortens, our posture shrinks. So if we want to stop the spiral, we need to fix the problem where it starts: Not in the mind, but in the body. 🤌🏽

Here’s what to do:

Next time you’re in a situation where you feel small or unsure—borrow the body language from the moments where you felt powerful. Because Physiology influences psychology. When your body says: “I’m safe. I belong here.” Your brain catches up.

Confidence flows more effortlessly when your nervous system feels regulated, not when your brain is yelling affirmations.

Real Talk:

Before your next big meeting, first date, or presentation, don’t just rehearse your words.

Rehearse your presence.

  • Roll your shoulders back and chin parallel to the floor

  • Breathe deeply, 4 counts in 4 counts hold 4 counts exhale

  • Open your rib cage and engage your midback

  • Do some squats to activate the lower body and sacral chakra

  • Remind your body: We’ve done this before. We are safe.

Because the body doesn’t lie. When it feels secure, it shows and owns the room.

Confidence isn’t a performance. It’s a byproduct of safety in the body. You already have access to it. Start with one small physical shift and trust your body to lead.

So tell me—next time you're stepping into a challenge, what’s one cue from your confident self you’ll bring with you?
